Cationic Fatliquors

Licrol K 4

cationic fatliquor

Chemical composition

blend of natural and synthetic oils

Active matter

approx. 50 %

Appearance

white, viscous emulsion

pH - value (1:10)

3.5 - 4.5

Charge

cationic

Stability

can be used in the chrome tanning. Like vegetable tannins, it precipitates in combination with anionic products

Dilution

1 : 3 with water of 30 °C – 40 °C

Field of application

Cationic fatliquor for the chrome tannage and for the final application into the fatliquoring bath. In rechroming it gives a proper wet back with the natural smooth grain. It supports the uniform uptake of the chrome or the chrome syntan. In topping it provides surface touch for the heavy retan crust, which has to be vacuum dried.

Properties

  • good lightfastness
  • improves grain smoothness and elasticity in chrome tannage
  • slightly waxy feel
  • ensures exhaustion of anionic fatliquors
  • improves chrome distribution

    Application

Licrol K 4 is added first in the chrome tanning process. For the exhaustion of the main fatliquor and for surface lubrication, Licrol K 4 is given after the formic acid.
